PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The first bet will be placed at Philadelphia’s first licensed sports book, SugarHouse Casino, gets set to begin taking bets on games this weekend.
Sugarhouse Casino in Fishtown will unveil its new, temporary sports betting area and begin test periods at noon Thursday.
If all goes well, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says the casino can start regular sports-betting hours on Saturday.
A year-old state law allows owners of Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos to pay a $10 million fee to operate sports betting.
